And sometimes, it’s found in the quiet surprise of a card—thoughtfully chosen, handwritten with love, and delivered at just the right moment.
Recently, we received a beautiful surprise of our own: a collection of handmade cards from a small business called Welcome Bee. Each card was uniquely designed, delicately crafted, and deeply personal. More than anything, they reminded us of something simple but profound: a small act of kindness can leave a lasting mark on the heart.
As we learned more about Welcome Bee, we were moved by the story behind the art. It began in 2015, when a mother and daughter sat together in church, hearing a message about using our God-given gifts to glorify Him and serve others. That moment sparked something—a quiet calling to turn their love of art and creativity into something meaningful.
Their story goes deeper. Many years earlier, this same family experienced the loss of a daughter named Faith, born too early but forever remembered. That Christmas, in the midst of grief, the family came together to draw a handmade card—one that featured their family and a small angel watching over them. That angel, their “Faith,” became a symbol of hope, and what started as one heartfelt card became a 27-year tradition of drawing and sharing cards, always with Faith in mind.
From those humble beginnings, Welcome Bee Greeting Cards was born. Named after a grandson’s middle name (“Welcome”) and the family’s surname (“Busby”), the business became a way to spread joy and faith—one card at a time. The “bee,” symbolic in Christianity for its representation of wisdom, strength, and good works, now buzzes through every design they create.
And here’s where our paths connect.
Our journey with BeGenerous—another powerful, women-led organization doing incredible work to help women and families rebuild their lives—began with a meeting that deeply moved us. Their courage, compassion, and mission inspired us, and we’ve proudly supported their work ever since. In fact, every custom candle included in our closing baskets comes from BeGenerous, offering a touch of warmth and light to celebrate new beginnings.
So when Welcome Bee and BeGenerous partnered to bring cards into the All Things New shop, it felt like a divine connection. Purpose meeting purpose. Light meeting love.
